Baking with Philips Avance XL Airfryer

I’ve had the Philips Airfryer for just over a month and I couldn’t resist doing this little experiment! I baked cupcakes in the Airfryer AND in a regular oven! Yup, I wanted to do a taste test, texture test, look test and what have you, to find out if there’s any difference between the two.

Here’s how to make the cupcakes first! A super duper super duper easy recipe!

Chocolate Mixture

I put some cupcakes in the Philips Airfryer, and some in the oven: (this is my first time using Silicon Cupcake Holders! They were easy to use!!)2013-11-12 22.05.59

Here are the results:

SMELL: Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! I was unable to differentiate which one smelt better!

LOOK: Yummy, yummy, yummy. Both looked like very good cupcakes! Cupcake Look Test

TEXTURE: Again, I was unable to differentiate the two. Both were moist and remained fluffy.Cupcake Texture Test

TASTE: The Philips Airfryer cupcakes were a tad bit softer! I did the blind test on my three kids and my husband. All of them gave a different verdict. Two preferred the oven-baked ones, and two preferred the Airfryer ones.

I realised it’s all a personal preference. Cos they all LOVED the cupcakes, it’s just that those who like soft cupcakes will choose the ones baked in the Philips Airfryer, and those who prefer crumbly cupcakes choose the ones bakes in a regular oven.

Verdict:

The Philips Airfryer is a perfect substitute for a oven. This is especially when you are baking in small batches. Imagine the electricity saved!! I’ve tried baking in those mini toaster ovens and they ALWAYS burn before baking!! And I must say, the AirFryer took 15 min to bake, while the oven took 20 min… That’s close to 30% faster! I’m no techie, but I’m quite sure it’s because of the Rapid Air Technology that the AirFryer is known for!

I’m really happy now with the new Philips Airfryer! The options of what I can bake, gratinate, grill and roast are really endless! And all with lesser energy and perfect results!
